The Nigerian Senate has approved the appointment of Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as Minister of Power, alongside Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

According to Ireporter Online, the confirmations followed the consideration of a formal request transmitted to the upper chamber by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The correspondence, which was presented during plenary by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, sought legislative screening and approval of the nominees in accordance with constitutional provisions.

Tegbe, an indigene of Oyo State, is widely regarded as a seasoned fiscal and economic reform specialist, bringing over three decades of experience spanning both the public and private sectors. He previously served as Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa, where he spearheaded major initiatives focused on fiscal policy reforms, governance systems, and institutional transformation. His professional portfolio also includes advisory roles to government bodies and private organisations on regulatory frameworks, strategic restructuring, and investment planning.

His emergence as Minister of Power follows the exit of Adebayo Adelabu, who stepped down from the role to pursue his governorship ambition in Oyo State.
