The clarification comes after SaharaReporters had reported that Akpabio collapsed and was flown to London on a private jet for medical treatment, claims that reportedly kept him away from official engagements, including the Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper session held on Wednesday.

Speaking on Channels Television’s ‘Morning Brief’ programme on Thursday, Okolugbo dismissed the reports as unfounded, emphasizing that Akpabio continues to actively carry out his official duties. He stated, “The Senate President is very healthy. You saw him; he’s been attending sessions, and that answers the question.”

Okolugbo drew parallels to similar rumours about the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, who was falsely reported as incapacitated but was later seen commissioning projects and participating in live programmes.
