Obaseki recounted the incident where Shaibu reached out to a leader in the APC, the opposition party, to coordinate the election of the speaker of the house of assembly.

Shaibu reportedly aimed to join forces with five members from his side and seven members from the APC to elect the next speaker.

This move by Shaibu was seen by Obaseki as a breach of their common interests and collaboration.

Obaseki further shared that he confronted Shaibu about his actions and refused to allow him to attend a meeting with PDP members.

He questioned Shaibu’s loyalty and criticized his attempt to pursue a different speakership candidate against the governor’s wishes.

This incident signaled to Obaseki that his deputy had become extremely desperate to take over the governorship and was willing to go to extreme lengths, even resorting to a coup, to achieve his ambitions.

In response to these allegations, Shaibu took legal action by approaching the court to prevent the governor from impeaching him due to their irreconcilable differences.
