Reports indicate that the politician and cultural advocate slumped and died in the early hours of Wednesday, sending shockwaves across political and sociocultural circles.

The announcement was made by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, MacDonald Amadi, who described Asuzu’s passing as a devastating blow to the ADC family and the Nigerian society at large.

Asuzu, widely respected as a man of intellect and conviction, was also the convener of Ikoro Ndigbo and a prominent voice in Igbo sociocultural thought. A native of Umuma Isiaku in Ideato South Local Government Area, he held degrees in Theology and Political Science and was working towards a doctorate before his untimely death.

His influence extended beyond politics, as he was a theologian, entrepreneur, and cultural revivalist. He founded the Igbo Intelligentsia Renaissance, a platform dedicated to cultural renewal and intellectual dialogue, and also established I Stand With ADC, a national coalition mobilizing citizens for democratic participation.

A former chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Asuzu distinguished himself as a prolific writer, public affairs analyst, and visiting lecturer. The party further described him as a loving husband, devoted father, and mentor who inspired countless people across religious and secular platforms.

“The passing of Chief Asuzu is an irreplaceable loss to his family, the ADC, and the nation at large,” the statement read, noting that burial arrangements would be communicated in due time.
