Shock in Edo as Alleged Cult Leader Returns to Campus, Nabbed with Gang at Igbinedion University
A suspected cult leader identified as Favour Nosaghare has been apprehended alongside four others at Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State, for alleged involvement in cult-related activities.
According to information obtained by iReporter Online, the arrests were initiated after the university’s security personnel reported a suspicious return to campus by Nosaghare—who had previously been suspended over cultism allegations. He was said to have re-entered the premises on July 28 around 3:20 p.m. in the company of individuals believed to be associated with the same group.
Prompt action by law enforcement led to the arrest of four additional suspects: Emmanuel Omogiyo, Osaigie Gerald, Obiorah Chukwudi, and Esther Chukwuma—all reportedly students of the institution. Intelligence suggests that the group may be linked to the Black Axe confraternity, also known as Aye.
During the operation, officials reportedly recovered several items believed to be linked to illicit activity, including wraps of Indian hemp, a pack of rolling papers (Rizla), and a metal grinder.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the main suspect, Nosaghare, confessed to the allegations during interrogation. Authorities are continuing with the probe to determine the extent of the group’s involvement and connections.
