Shocking Confession in Kogi Murder Case: Suspect Claims Ignorance of Ritual Killing
Harrowing development, the Kogi State Police Command has paraded four individuals accused of the brutal murder of 19-year-old Damilola Olowoyo, a student at the Federal University, Lokoja. The suspects—Jeremiah Paul, Emmanuel Otitoju, Banabas Olugbenga, and Ajayi Ayomide—were presented at the police headquarters in Lokoja, shedding light on the gruesome crime that has sent shockwaves through the community.
According to Punch Newspaper, Jeremiah Paul, the primary suspect, allegedly lured Damilola into a secluded area with a promise of assistance before committing the heinous act. Paul is reported to have poisoned Damilola’s drink with codeine, strangled her, and then dismembered her body, removing vital organs for ritualistic purposes.
SP William Aya, the state Police Public Relations Officer, disclosed that Paul had initially extorted N400,000 from Damilola’s parents under the pretense of securing her release. This revelation came to light during the police investigation, which uncovered Paul’s chilling intent to use Damilola’s body parts in a ritual.
In a twist to the investigation, one of the suspects confessed that he was unaware of the murder details and was only informed about the ransom money. This startling admission adds a layer of complexity to the case, raising questions about the involvement and knowledge of each suspect.
The police have urged students and parents to remain vigilant, stressing that there are individuals within educational environments who may harbor dangerous motives. The suspects are currently in custody and will be charged in court once the investigation is completed.
The Kogi State Police Command has assured the public that justice will be served, and the suspects will face prosecution for their alleged crimes. As the investigation continues, the community remains on edge, grappling with the tragic and unsettling details of this case.
