Eid-el-Kabir 2025 – Lagos Police Deploys Tactical Units, Anti-Bomb Squads to Bolster Security
Ahead of the 2025 Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, the Lagos State Police Command has launched an extensive security operation across the state. The move, ordered by the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, includes the deployment of multiple security teams such as the Rapid Response Squad, EKO STRIKE FORCE, Tactical Squads, and Anti-Bomb Units to strategic areas.
The initiative targets crime prevention and seeks to reassure residents and visitors of their safety during the Sallah festivities.
Naija News gathered that specialized patrol and anti-crime units have been mobilized to cover black spots, criminal hideouts, Eid prayer grounds, mosques, recreational centres, and public venues to deter threats and ensure smooth celebrations.
According to a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, armed personnel, including members of the Police Mobile Force, Counter-Terrorism Unit, Special Protection Unit, and the Intelligence Department, have also been dispatched. These teams are supported by armoured vehicles and patrol units for crowd control, traffic management, and rapid response.
The CP emphasized that officers must act with professionalism, politeness, and respect for citizens’ rights, while remaining vigilant and firm.
“Public spaces with large gatherings will be thoroughly policed. We aim to preserve law and order throughout the celebration period and beyond,” the CP said.
Residents were advised to remain law-abiding and cooperative, while parents and guardians are urged to counsel their children against any unlawful acts. The CP warned that any miscreants who threaten public peace will face the full force of the law.
He also called on community leaders and religious figures to support the police by educating their followers on maintaining peace and tolerance.
For emergencies, the public can contact the Police Command via 08063299264 or 08065154338. Complaints regarding police misconduct can be submitted through the Lagos State Command’s official complaint portal, via WhatsApp on 09111111151, or by phone at 09111111150.
Extending warm greetings, CP Jimoh joined Muslim faithful across Lagos in marking the Eid-el-Kabir festival, wishing all residents peace, love, and joyful celebrations.
