The announcement was made based on reports from National Moon Sighting Committees across Nigeria, confirming the non-sighting of the new moon. In a statement signed by Prof. Sambo Junaidu, the Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs to the Sultanate Council, it was confirmed that Wednesday, April 10, 2024, will mark the first day of Shawwal 1445AH.

The Sultan extended his felicitations to the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria, wishing them Allah’s guidance and blessings. He urged Muslims to continue praying for peace, progress, and development in the country, while also conveying his best wishes for a happy Eid-El-Fitr celebration.
