Tinubu Aide Criticizes Peter Obi, Questions His Understanding Of Democracy

Daniel Bwala, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, has criticized Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, over recent remarks he made about Nigeria’s democracy.

Bwala described Obi as a “failed politician” who has never taken a firm stance in defense of democracy, accusing him of merely making shallow comments.

Obi, during a recent discussion at Emeka Ihedioha’s 60th birthday democracy colloquium, recalled his own experiences as governor of Anambra, where former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Senate President Ken Nnamani intervened to prevent his impeachment. He contrasted the past, where the judiciary was free from corruption, with the current administration, where a president had the authority to suspend a governor.

However, in his reaction posted on (formerly Twitter), Bwala accused Obi of promoting hate speech and dismissed his criticisms, questioning his comprehension of democracy. He remarked that while others fought for democracy, Obi was preoccupied with business and has no history of supporting democratic causes.
