Tinubu Earns Northern Applause For Honouring Buhari With Presidential Respect
The Northern Youth Frontiers (NYF) have applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his exemplary leadership and unwavering sense of national unity, as reflected in the dignified funeral rites accorded to Nigeria’s late former President, Muhammadu Buhari.
According to iReporter Online, the NYF described the President’s gestures during the period of mourning as a profound demonstration of statesmanship and national cohesion. In a statement released on Tuesday by its National Coordinator, Sama Musa, the group said Tinubu’s actions during the final rites of Buhari symbolised respect, unity, and reverence for service.
“The passing of Muhammadu Buhari is a monumental moment in Nigeria’s history,” Musa said. “He was a man of principle, integrity, and dedication to national service. His lifelong commitment to peace, economic development, and national security will forever resonate within the fabric of our nation.”
According to iReporter Online, the youth group commended Tinubu’s decision to send a high-powered delegation led by Vice President Kashim Shettima to oversee the transportation of Buhari’s remains from London to his hometown of Daura. The move, they said, ensured that the arrangements were executed with precision, honour, and solemnity befitting a national hero.
Musa further lauded the President’s directive to fly the national flag at half-mast for seven days and the declaration of a public holiday in Buhari’s honour, calling them “acts of unity and a shared national moment of reflection.”
“These gestures are more than protocol—they are emblematic of a leadership that recognises the importance of national memory and the collective healing of a people,” the statement added. “They engage every citizen in mourning, regardless of political or regional affiliations.”
According to iReporter Online, the NYF expressed that Buhari’s legacy—rooted in sacrifice, discipline, and a deep love for Nigeria—would continue to inspire younger generations, particularly in the North. They emphasised that his dedication to anti-corruption, infrastructure development, and electoral reform set a benchmark for public service.
“In remembering Buhari, we are reminded of what it means to lead with vision and sacrifice,” the group stated. “We urge all Nigerians to honour his memory by embracing the values of unity, service, and patriotism.”
The Northern Youth Frontiers concluded by reaffirming their support for President Tinubu during this period of national mourning, urging the continuation of Buhari’s ideals in pursuit of a more united and prosperous Nigeria.
