Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has reaffirmed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for a second term in the 2027 presidential election, describing the President as a son of Osun State.

According to Ireporter Online, Adeleke made the declaration on Sunday while addressing journalists after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) formally declared him the winner of the state governorship election.

The governor, who contested under the Accord Party platform, expressed appreciation to Tinubu for what he described as the President’s support for a free and fair electoral process in Osun State.

Adeleke said Tinubu’s role in ensuring that the election was conducted peacefully deserved recognition, adding that his position on the President’s 2027 ambition remained unchanged.

The Osun governor further expressed hope that his closest rival, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, would also accept the outcome and congratulate him.

Adeleke secured 511,067 votes to defeat Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes. The Accord Party candidate won 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji won 11.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Najeem Salaam, finished third with 17,180 votes.
