According to Ireporter Online, the Nigerian Senate has passed the Electoral Act, 2022 (Repeal & Enactment) Bill, 2026, following extensive deliberation on all 155 clauses. The approval, which comes amid national discussions on electoral reforms ahead of the 2027 general elections, retained most provisions while introducing key amendments. Notably, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will now publish election notices 180 days before polls, a reduction from the previous 360-day timeline, after a motion by Senator Tahir Monguno highlighted challenges in meeting statutory requirements under the former schedule.
