Transfer Update: Gabriel Jesus Lands In Barcelona As Al-Qadsiah Close In On Sani Suleiman

Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus has arrived in Barcelona as he closes in on a move to the Spanish champions, with the Brazilian expected to complete the transfer after undergoing his medical examinations.

According to Ireporter Online, the 29-year-old landed in Barcelona on Monday, August 31, ahead of the proposed €10 million deal. The striker is expected to sign a two-year contract with the Catalan club once the formalities are completed.

Arsenal are set to receive an initial €10 million for Jesus, who has one year remaining on his contract with the Premier League club. The agreement could reportedly rise by a further €4 million through performance-related add-ons.

Barcelona turned their attention to Jesus after Atlético Madrid refused to negotiate over their preferred target, Julián Álvarez.

The Spanish champions had been considering starting the season without another recognised striker following the departures of Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres. However, manager Hansi Flick reportedly wanted an experienced No.9 to strengthen his attacking options.

Jesus, who joined Arsenal from Manchester City in 2022, has struggled for regular playing time in recent seasons due partly to injuries. He has also fallen behind Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyökeres in manager Mikel Arteta’s attacking hierarchy and has not featured in Arsenal’s opening two competitive matches of the campaign.

Meanwhile, Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsiah have reportedly reached an agreement with RB Leipzig over a transfer fee estimated at between €9 million and €10 million for Nigerian winger Sani Suleiman.

However, discussions over personal terms between Suleiman and the Saudi club are still ongoing as the parties work towards completing the proposed transfer.

The development could see the Nigerian attacker make a move to the Saudi Pro League if the remaining negotiations are successfully concluded.
