Troops Raid IPOB/ESN Hideout In Enugu, Bust Gunrunner Syndicate In Obudu (PHOTOS)

In the first operation, conducted under Operation UDO KA II, the troops targeted the hideouts of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed faction, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), in Imufu, Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State.

This operation resulted in the elimination of two armed fighters, the seizure of three Semi Automatic Pump Action Rifles, and a locally crafted single barrel gun.

Furthermore, the collaborative efforts of the troops and the DSS led to the arrest of a prominent ESN Commander known as Mr. Ezege, in Obinagu, Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State. Mr. Ezege had been issuing threats of violence against Enugu state through social media platforms. He is presently in custody for further investigation.

Simultaneously, the 130 Battalion of the 13 Brigade Area within the 82 Division, Nigerian Army, in conjunction with the DSS, dismantled a gunrunning syndicate at the Obudu motorcycle park in Cross River State.

Acting on credible intelligence, the operation resulted in the apprehension of the syndicate’s leader and associates, including two Nigerians and two Cameroonians.

Initial investigations unveiled a network wherein the accomplices procured firearms, which were then sold to an intermediary responsible for providing arms and ammunition to Ambazonian Separatists in the Republic of Cameroon.

Subsequent actions led to the capture of the kingpin, Raphael, also known as Biajua, in Biajua community, Boki Local Government Area of Cross River State. This operation yielded four Semi Automatic Pump Action Rifles and four mobile phones.

The Nigerian Army, through its spokesperson Brigadier General Onyema, encouraged the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to security agencies. These actions strengthen the ongoing efforts to address security challenges.

Residents of Southeast Nigeria are advised to disregard any illegal “sit-at-home” orders and continue their daily routines, as the Army maintains its resolute commitment to counter unlawful enforcement.
