This operation was carried out by Sector 1 of Operation Hadarin Daji, stationed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Mada, Zamfara State.

While on a routine patrol along Shemori – Yandoto Road in the Marke General Area, the troops encountered an unspecified number of armed bandits. A firefight ensued between the troops and the bandits, lasting for several hours. The troops’ superior firepower compelled the bandits to retreat into the nearby forest in disarray.

Following this confrontation, the troops pursued the bandits into the forest, leading to the abandonment of two civilians who were held captive.

These individuals, identified as Dr. Hassan Abubakar Augie, a former Provost of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Gusau, and his son, were successfully rescued by the troops.

Further investigation revealed that the bandits had abducted Dr. Augie and his son from their residence the previous night, and they were taken into the forest. The timely arrival of the troops ensured their rescue before any harm could be inflicted upon them.

As a result of the successful operation, the rescued individuals were joyfully reunited with their families. The troops continue to maintain an aggressive stance through vigilant patrols in the surrounding area to ensure the safety of the region.
