UNICAL Scandal: Professor Refutes Nude Photo Allegations, Says Evidence Was Altered
Professor Cyril Ndifon, the suspended Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Calabar (UNICAL), has strongly denied the allegations of sexual harassment leveled against him, claiming that the evidence presented by the prosecution….UNICAL Scandal: Professor Refutes Nude Photo Allegations, Says Evidence Was Altered
was manipulated.
Appearing before Justice James Omotosho at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday, Ndifon, who was suspended amid the allegations, testified that photos allegedly extracted from his phone by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) were tampered with. He insisted that the pictures in question were not from his device and suggested that they had been doctored.
As the first defense witness, Ndifon categorically denied any involvement in sending or requesting explicit images from the complainant, identified as TKJ. He further claimed that the phone where the incriminating images were found was not his primary device, and he provided details of his communication methods with TKJ, emphasizing that the phone in question was not used for their exchanges.
Ndifon also challenged the authenticity of the evidence, stating that crucial details such as the complainant’s phone were not properly analyzed to corroborate the allegations. He accused the ICPC of not involving him in the evidence extraction process and failing to verify the source of the complaint.
The embattled professor also introduced an accusation against the complainant, alleging that she had been admitted irregularly into the Faculty of Law, citing her low JAMB score and an attempt by her uncle to secure her admission through bribery—claims which he declined to assist with.
Ndifon vehemently denied any inappropriate behavior toward TKJ, insisting that the allegations were fabricated and occurred when he was no longer serving as Dean. He expressed shock over the accusations, asserting that nothing of the sort ever transpired.
The case, which has attracted widespread attention, is ongoing, with the next proceedings scheduled for February 12 and 13, 2025.
