February 22 local government elections, passed away on Tuesday after a brief illness, leaving his family, friends, and political colleagues devastated.

The news of his death was first shared by Akintunde Bello Sheriff, Senior Special Assistant to the Osun Governor on the Bureau of Social Services, in a heartfelt Facebook post. Sheriff, who had grown up with Nurein, expressed deep sorrow, reflecting on the unexpected loss. “The Councillor waiting to be elected in my Ward bided the world farewell this afternoon after a brief illness. We were all together just days ago during the New Year festivities. This is a devastating loss for the PDP family in Ede North,” Sheriff wrote.

PDP spokesperson for Osun, Oladele Bamiji, also extended condolences, emphasizing Nurein’s popularity and the profound impact of his death on the community. “He was well-loved by all, and his loss is deeply felt. May his soul rest in peace, and may God provide strength to his family during this difficult time,” Bamiji stated.

The PDP and local community are left to mourn a promising candidate whose life was tragically cut short.
