Gloria, known for her hard work and devotion to her family, had ventured to the farm that afternoon to collect vegetables for the market. Sadly, she never made it back home.

Her heartbroken husband, Peter Ajine, recalled the devastating moment when he learned of her death. “I can’t believe she’s gone. Gloria was the light of our family,” he said, overcome with emotion. “She went to the farm to provide for us and our son. Who would do this to her? She didn’t deserve such a fate.”

Hours later, Gloria’s lifeless body was discovered, lying in a pool of blood. The attack was described as ruthless and cold-blooded, but the identities of the killers remain unknown.

Gloria, born into the Ochong family of Benue State, had moved to Ogun State with her husband and young child in search of a better life. Now, her family is left to pick up the pieces, mourning the loss of a woman who worked tirelessly for her loved ones.

Peter made an emotional plea to the authorities, urging the government and police to find the culprits and ensure justice. “I’ve lost my wife, my partner, my best friend. Our son has lost his mother,” he said tearfully.

The community of Ilewo Orile, in disbelief over the brutality of the crime, has rallied together to demand action. Neighbors spoke of Gloria’s kindness and hard work, with many expressing fear over the safety of the area.

“This is a tragedy,” said Mrs. Rukayat Oladimeji, a neighbor. “She was always smiling, always working. We can’t believe this happened to her.”

The Ajine and Ochong families have issued a joint statement, calling for a swift investigation and for the perpetrators to be brought to justice. They have also urged the government and human rights organizations to support their fight for justice.

Civil rights organizations, including the Human Rights Advocacy Watch Campaign and the All Nigerian Women League, have also condemned the murder, decrying it as an attack not just on one family, but on the collective safety of vulnerable Nigerians, especially women in rural areas.

“This brutal killing is a stark reminder of the insecurity faced by women in our society,” the statement read. “We demand that the Ogun State Police Command investigate the matter thoroughly and bring the killers to justice.”

As of now, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, has yet to provide an update on the case.
