On Monday, Labour Party flagbearer Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata, alongside his running mate, Kadiri and experienced team, stormed the palace of the Onogie of Igueben in the ancient city of Benin. This strategic move has further cemented Akpata’s position as the leading candidate in the upcoming gubernatorial election.
Never one to rest, Akpata returned to his city after a robust tour of the Northern part of the state. The first thing on his agenda was to seek royal blessings, guidance, and wisdom from the Onogie of Igueben. This move underscores his deep respect for tradition and his commitment to working closely with traditional rulers to ensure the success of his administration.
In just over a week, Akpata and his seasoned team have garnered royal blessings from various traditional rulers, with the highest king in the land, the Oba of Benin, being the first to bless him.
Akpata’s engagement with traditional rulers aligns with his previous statements emphasizing the importance of their role in his incoming administration. His promise to collaborate with these leaders demonstrates his dedication to preserving and honoring Edo State’s rich cultural heritage while ensuring their pivotal partnership in driving the state’s progress.
