carried out by the student’s boyfriend, who hired a thug to carry out the assault.

The incident occurred after the student, dissatisfied with her assigned course, sought to change her department. However, her grades did not meet the requirements for her preferred course.

Auwalu Ismail Bagwai, the Public Relations Officer of Kano Polytechnic, confirmed the attack on Friday. He explained that the female student entered the lecturer’s office with her boyfriend, accusing the lecturer of preventing her from changing her course. The boyfriend then allegedly drew a cutlass and attempted to stab the lecturer in the head. The lecturer was injured on his hands while defending himself. Fellow students intervened, prompting the attackers to flee.

The lecturer was quickly taken to the hospital for treatment. School security officers then attempted to apprehend the student and her boyfriend at her residence in Dorayi, but the student fled into her house, and a group of armed thugs emerged, attacking the security officers.

Bagwai confirmed that authorities are actively investigating the incident and that the injured lecturer is receiving medical attention. “We will ensure justice is served,” he added.
