The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the state government appear to be at odds over the recent absence of Governor Ademola Adeleke, with the opposition party raising serious concerns about his whereabouts.

According to IReporter Online, the APC, through its Director of Media and Publicity, Kola Olabisi, issued a statement on Tuesday alleging that Governor Adeleke had left the state unceremoniously and had been absent for over two weeks.

The party claimed a discreet investigation revealed that the governor quietly exited Osun after unsuccessful attempts to switch allegiance to the APC.

The statement further questioned whether the governor had officially transmitted power to his deputy, as required by constitutional protocol during such absences.

Olabisi also accused the governor of allegedly leaving the reins of government in the hands of family members, claiming they had been running state affairs by proxy—an act he described as embarrassing to right-thinking members of society.

In a swift response, the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, clarified that Governor Adeleke had travelled to the United States of America for a private family event—the wedding ceremony of his globally acclaimed nephew, music star David Adeleke (Davido).

According to IReporter Online, Rasheed emphasized that the trip was short and that the governor remained in constant communication with his deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi, who is overseeing state activities in his absence.

Rasheed also noted that Governor Adeleke had not taken any official vacation since assuming office in November 2022.

According to IReporter Online, he urged critics to focus on governance rather than politicizing a personal family event, while extending an open invitation to members of the opposition to join the wedding celebrations—physically or virtually.
