dgg

A 50-year-old farmer from Benin, Poni Bada, planned to perform a money ritual using his unsuspecting nine-year-old son.

Three other men, Ige Koselu, Benjamin Balovi, and Segun Shile, joined him in seeking the services of a herbalist in Owode, Ogun State, Nigeria, to carry out the ritual.

The trio contributed N100,000 to start the process with an agreement to share the loot when the ritual was successful.

However, the plan was foiled when police from the Zone 2 Command in Onikan, Lagos, acted on intelligence and raided the herbalist’s shrine, arresting all the suspects and rescuing the boy, Agbe.

The boy had been brought from Benin Republic a month prior to work on a farmland for a meager wage of N5,000.

Poni Bada, the boy’s father, explained that he had ten children and was facing difficult living conditions. He thought of using his youngest child for a money ritual to improve the welfare of his other children.

Bada had come to Nigeria to visit his brother, Benjamin Balobi, who later suggested using the boy for farm work in Nigeria.

However, the idea of a money ritual came up when the father felt the boy’s salary was too low.

One of the accomplices, Segun Shile, a commercial motorcyclist, revealed that four herbalists had initially declined to perform the money ritual.

When they finally found a herbalist who agreed, he later warned them against using the boy, stating that his head was too strong for the ritual.

The herbalist then demanded N100,000, which the three accomplices contributed, with the understanding that Bada would compensate them later. However, the police arrived before the ritual could take place.

Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 2, Command, AIG Muhammed Ali, confirmed the arrest and the rescue of the boy. He stated that the child would be taken to a juvenile home at the end of the investigation.
