Initially, Omokri opposed Tinubu due to concerns over his academic credentials and alleged ties to drug-related activities. However, after conducting his own investigation into Tinubu’s educational background in September 2022, he withdrew his previous claims and urged others to stop spreading misinformation.

Omokri further explained that the Supreme Court’s ruling also played a role in his change of heart. He clarified, “I was provided with credible evidence that Tinubu attended, passed his exams, and graduated from Chicago State University. This new information led me to completely revise my position.”

Regarding the drug-related allegations, Omokri stated, “The Supreme Court clarified that Tinubu was not convicted of any drug-related crime; the conviction was actually against someone else, and his involvement was limited to serving as that person’s accountant.”

Omokri also acknowledged that the appointment of his close friend, Nuhu Ribadu, as National Security Adviser, had a significant impact on his decision to support the administration. He said, “Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and I share a deep bond, and after discussing matters with him, he convinced me of the administration’s genuine desire to improve Nigeria.”

In conclusion, Omokri expressed his ongoing support for the government, emphasizing, “As long as Mallam Nuhu Ribadu is in this government, I will continue to support their efforts and economic policies.”
