Why Wike Visited Me – Ganduje Opens Up
Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has shed light on the recent visit of former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, to him.
Ganduje emphasized that Wike, who is now a Minister-designate, is fully prepared to collaborate with the ruling party.
Ganduje expressed his strong belief that Wike’s involvement will enhance the APC’s prospects in the 2027 elections.
He made this revelation during a visit by Simon Bako Lalong, the former Governor of Plateau State and Director General of the disbanded APC Presidential Campaign Council, to the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

Ganduje, aged 73, clarified that although he and Wike had discussions, they did not broach the subject of Wike’s potential defection to the APC.

He explained, “Wike is an honorable Minister-designate, so he came, we had discussions. I wanted to congratulate him for that. He also came to congratulate me. We discussed his commitment to working hard when he becomes a minister to advance his assigned ministry. However, we didn’t discuss whether he is joining the APC or not. That topic will come up later.”
Ganduje continued, revealing that Wike’s presence in the party would bolster its chances in future elections. The party is working on a blueprint to increase its following, potentially leading to mergers with other political parties.
He said, “Having Wike will certainly enhance our party’s prospects, especially in 2027. We’re unveiling a new blueprint to grow our party’s following, including officials from other parties. We’re working on this behind the scenes. The spirit of national unity isn’t confined to a single party but encompasses competence and capacity at the national level.”
Lalong, addressing reporters, explained that his visit aimed to congratulate Ganduje on his appointment as the new APC National Chairman. He praised Ganduje’s extensive political experience and expressed confidence in his leadership.
Lalong stated, “I was away during the national caucus and NEC meetings. Now that I’m back, I wanted to formally congratulate him and discuss ways to support his leadership of the party. With his extensive experience, from civil service to governor, there’s no better fit for party affairs. We’re united around him to ensure the party’s success.”
