Wike Attacks Rivers Elders for Supporting Fubara, Questioning Tinubu

The political crisis in Rivers State has taken a new turn as the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, launched an attack on Rivers elders who expressed support for Governor Siminalayi Fubara. During a thanksgiving ceremony and marriage anniversary event, Wike accused the elders of pursuing selfish interests and warned the people of the state against blindly following political conflicts without understanding the root causes.

Wike criticized the elders who questioned President Bola Tinubu’s intervention in the Rivers political crisis, accusing them of seeking personal gains. He emphasized the importance of understanding the rules in politics and cautioned against getting involved in conflicts without knowing the facts.

The FCT Minister urged the church and the people of Rivers State not to be swayed by blackmail and propaganda, emphasizing that he would never do anything to drag the state backward. He expressed disappointment that some elders he had supported had joined in criticizing him, stating that everyone in the state, irrespective of ethnic background, should consider themselves part of Rivers State.
