Wike, Other G5 Governors Arrive In Port Harcourt From London (PHOTOS)

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and other disgruntled Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors have arrived in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

The members of the G5 or the Integrity Group are their host, Wike (Rivers), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), and Okezie Ikpeazu (Enugu) (Abia).

The five governors have demanded the resignation of the PDP National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, as a condition for supporting Atiku Abubakar’s presidential ambitions in the 2023 elections.

The governors flew to the United Kingdom on Wednesday for what could be described as a strategic meeting. This was in response to the uncertainty surrounding their preferred presidential candidate for the 2023 general elections.

Although the governors have refused to support the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, on the grounds that he and the party’s National Chairman are from the same northern region, they have consistently demanded that Nigeria’s next President be a Southerner.

However, there have been reports in London that the G5 governors have reached an agreement with the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, though there has been no official confirmation of this.
