Wike, Saraki, Shettima Storm Fayose’s 65th Birthday Amid PDP Turmoil In Lagos

According to Ireporter Online, the 65th birthday celebration of former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, in Lagos on Saturday attracted a host of notable political figures, including Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; former Senate President, Bukola Saraki; and Vice President Kashim Shettima. The event, attended by Fayose’s family, friends, and political allies, drew significant attention despite ongoing tensions within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Saraki, sharing his experience on social media, expressed his joy at attending the celebration, noting that it was a pleasure to join Fayose and other dignitaries in marking the milestone.

The birthday gathering coincided with the PDP National Elective Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, highlighting the deepening divisions within the opposition party. Wike’s faction reportedly sought to halt the convention through legal channels, while the faction led by Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum insisted the event must go ahead.

The PDP crisis intensified on the same day as the party announced the expulsion of Wike, Fayose, and other senior members for alleged anti-party activities, further fueling internal tensions and a growing rift among the party’s leadership.
