According to Ireporter Online, veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has dismissed long-standing claims of a feud between her and fellow screen icon, Genevieve Nnaji.

Speculation about a rift between the two actresses has persisted for years, largely fueled by their reduced public appearances together compared to their early days in the Nigerian film industry. Many fans have interpreted this distance as evidence of unresolved tension between the celebrated stars.

However, Omotola addressed the issue during a recent interview on Yanga FM, stating emphatically that there was never any fight between them. She explained that the rumours were the result of public speculation rather than any real conflict, likening it to the way fans and media often pit popular Nigerian musicians against one another.

The actress noted that fans had effectively created an imaginary rivalry and projected it onto both women. She explained that before they were even aware of any supposed disagreement, the narrative of a quarrel had already taken hold in the public space, despite the absence of any personal conflict.

Responding to questions about whether there had been a prolonged disagreement lasting several years, Omotola clarified that while they were not necessarily best friends, they maintained cordial communication behind the scenes. She said they spoke normally whenever they crossed paths and emphasized that professional colleagues do not always need to be close friends.

Omotola further explained that during their early years, the industry frequently encouraged unhealthy comparisons, branding one actress as the “hottest” at the expense of another. According to her, such comparisons naturally created mild tension, which the public often misinterpreted as outright hostility. She added that similar narratives now surround today’s music stars, noting that Nollywood actresses of their era were among the first to experience such manufactured rivalries.

She concluded by stating that both she and Genevieve were young at the time and focused on building their individual careers, stressing that the so-called feud never truly existed.
