N6.9bn Procurement Fraud: Emefiele’s Arraignment Stalled, Court Adjourns Fixes New Date

The scheduled legal proceeding involving the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja has been postponed due to the unavailability of the first and second defendants, who are reported to be unwell.

However, Emefiele was in attendance at the court today (Thursday).

Upon a request for an adjournment, the Presiding Judge, Justice Hamza Muazu, rescheduled the case to August 23, 2023.

Emefiele will face charges alongside a female employee of the CBN, Sa’adatu Yaro, and her company, April1616 Investment Limited. The charges involve 20 counts of procurement fraud, conspiracy, and providing illicit advantages to his associates.
