Stephanie Linus, a renowned actress and filmmaker, has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the Nigerian Official Selection Committee (NOSC) for the Best International Feature Film (IFF) category of the Oscars.

Among the reconstituted members are Dr. Chidia Maduekwe, Managing Director of the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC); Dr. Victor Okhai, President of the Directors’ Guild of Nigeria (DGN); veteran actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde; Andy Amenechi, former President of DGN; Yibo Koko, a theater practitioner; and writer/director Izu Ojukwu.

The committee also includes Adetokunbo ‘DJ Tee’ Odubawo, a cinematographer; Emem Isong, a prolific film producer; Dimeji Ajibola, a director; Jude Idada, a writer/director; Ngozi Okafor; John Njamah, a director; and Meg Otanwa, an actress/polyglot.

As the 96th Academy Awards draw near, the newly formed NOSC team will have the responsibility of curating, evaluating, and voting on entries to represent Nigeria in the IFF category.

The diverse creative backgrounds of the committee members, as highlighted by the NOSC, contribute to the dynamic process of selecting the finest film from Nigeria.

The IFF Award, previously known as the Best Foreign Language Award, is presented annually by the Academy to a feature-length film produced outside the United States with more than 50 percent non-English dialogue.

It is important to emphasize that submitted films must meet specific criteria set by the Academy, including accurate English subtitles, shooting formats, and theatrical releases, which are detailed on the NOSC website.
