FG Initiates Probe Into 107 Universities Over Alleged Fake Results, Seeks Nigerians Suggestion

The committee aims to review the activities and performances of these universities established in the past 15 years, focusing on areas such as facilities, management, program funding, staff qualifications, and types of employed staff.

In an advertorial published on Tuesday, the government solicited input from the public to aid in making informed decisions regarding the universities under investigation.

The probe follows recent revelations of certificate racketeering, sparked by investigative journalism uncovering the sale of fake certificates in Benin Republic and Togo. These forged documents were even used for enrollment in the National Youth Service Scheme (NYSC).

The committee emphasized that its actions would not interfere with the periodic accreditation exercises conducted by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

Public participation through memoranda submission is encouraged to provide valuable information to the committee, assisting in formulating recommendations to address the issue in line with its terms of reference.
