Okonjo-Iweala Urges FG To Rescue Abducted Kaduna And Sokoto Students

Speaking at the launch of the WTO-ITC 2024 technical assistance program for Nigeria in Abuja on Tuesday, Okonjo-Iweala expressed deep sadness over the abductions and emphasized the urgent need for their recovery.
“As a mother, grandmother, educator, and advocate for education as a catalyst for economic opportunities, I am profoundly saddened by the recent abduction of hundreds of our school children and teachers,” Okonjo-Iweala lamented.
She conveyed her hope for a swift recovery of the abducted students, underscoring the importance of prioritizing their safety and well-being.
Furthermore, Okonjo-Iweala highlighted the collaboration with the national security adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, expressing optimism in the efforts to rescue the kidnapped students in Kaduna and Sokoto.
The recent incidents of abduction include over 200 students abducted from the Government Secondary School Kuriga in Chikun LGA of Kaduna and the abduction of about 15 Tsangaya students in Gidan Bakuso, Gada Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
Okonjo-Iweala’s call for action underscores the gravity of the situation and the urgent need for concerted efforts to ensure the safe return of the abducted students.
