Police Neutralize Suspected Armed Robber, Arrest Accomplice, and Recover Stolen Items In Nasarawa

In a recent operation, the Nasarawa State Police Command announced the neutralization of a suspected armed robber identified as Ifeanyichukwu Ilegalu in the Mararaba area of Karu Local Government. According to DSP Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer, the arrest and neutralization followed a strategic move by the state Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Shehu Nadada, to enhance community policing in the Maraba area, which had witnessed a surge in robbery incidents.

The operation was triggered by information received on April 5 indicating that a gang of eight armed robbers was terrorizing residents of Aso Pada, Mararaba. In response, police operatives, in collaboration with vigilantes and courageous community members, swiftly pursued the criminals.

As a result of their efforts, one suspect was killed during the encounter, and another was successfully apprehended. The arrested suspect is currently assisting the police with their investigation.

DSP Nansel commended the bravery displayed by the police operatives, vigilante group members, and community residents involved in the operation. He also assured them of the continuous support of the Commissioner of Police and urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement to combat criminal activities in the state.

The successful operation highlights the effectiveness of collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies and local communities in combating crime and ensuring public safety in Nasarawa State.
