In a statement released by the Clerk of the House, Suleiman Shamaki, the suspension was attributed to Umar’s unguarded remarks, which were deemed inflammatory, as well as his role in inciting discord among fellow members and challenging the leadership of the House.

The statement, issued after an Executive Session on Friday, April 12, 2024, emphasized the unanimous decision of the assembly to suspend Umar in response to his conduct.

Additionally, the suspension notice outlined Umar’s involvement in exacerbating tensions between the Executive and the legislature, further cementing the rationale behind his temporary removal from office.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, Aisha Galadima, a prominent political figure associated with former Kaduna State governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has been apprehended in Kaduna. Sources suggest that her arrest is linked to a critical Facebook post targeting Governor Uba Sani, with operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS) reportedly taking her into custody from her Tudun Wada residence on Sunday afternoon.
