Mr. Yakubu Ayuba, the Registrar of the institution, conveyed this decision in a statement released on Saturday in Jos, the capital city.

Gunmen attacked Chikam, a neighboring community to the university, on Thursday night, resulting in the death of a student identified as Dading Jordan.

In response to the incident, the university had initially declared a two-day mourning period in honor of the slain student. However, considering the security situation, the management decided to extend the closure of the institution for 10 days starting from Friday, April 19.

Ayuba explained that the decision was made to ensure the safety of the university community and to allow for an improvement in the security situation in the area. Consequently, ongoing first-semester examinations have been suspended and are set to resume on Thursday, May 2.
