Matau, who ascended to the VC position from his prior role as Commissioner for Higher Education, finds himself prematurely ousted from his tenure, joining the ranks of the Rector of Plateau State Polytechnic in Barkin Ladi, and the Provosts of various colleges across the state.

Confirmed by the Secretary to the State Government, Samuel Jatau, the dissolution of the Governing Council of Plateau State University, Bokkos, was also approved, effective immediately.

While reasons for the mass removal remain undisclosed, the directive mandates all affected officials to promptly hand over any state property in their possession to their respective successors.

Additionally, Governor Mutfwang has scrapped previous recruitment processes conducted by the tertiary institutions, paving the way for a comprehensive, inclusive hiring process to be advertised in the near future.
