Gunmen Attack Enugu Community, Killing 2 Policemen And 4 Vigilante Operatives

According to sources, the attack on the security operatives was followed by a retaliatory raid by soldiers and police officers on the community the following night, during which houses were set ablaze and gunfire echoed through the area.

Tragically, one villager lost their life during the security operation, adding to the casualties resulting from the violent incident.

Confirming the loss of the operatives, Daniel Ndukwe, the spokesperson for the command, described the attack as unprovoked and perpetrated by criminal elements within the Igga Community. He revealed that the victims were providing security for a group of investors from Lagos when they were ambushed and fired upon by the assailants.

While some members of the team managed to escape, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), a Neighbourhood Watch personnel, and three members of the investor group were tragically killed and initially reported missing.

Following an intensive investigation and manhunt operation, three suspects believed to be behind the attack were apprehended. Their interrogation led to the discovery of the bodies of the slain operatives in the forest on May 4, 2024.

The bodies were subsequently transported to the hospital, where they were confirmed dead and prepared for autopsy, marking a grim aftermath to the violent incident that shook the Igga community.
