Global Tijjaniyya-Leader Denounces Forged-Letter Asking Emir Sanusi To Step-Down (Details)

In a decisive response, Sheikh Muhammad Mahi Niasse, the World Leader of the Tijjaniyya Sect, has vehemently denied the authenticity of a letter circulating that allegedly requests the reinstated Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, to step down and emulate his grandfather.

This denial was conveyed in a counter letter, originally written in Arabic and translated into Hausa, signed by Sani Auwalu Ahmad Tijjani, the Commissioner of Religious Matters of Kano State and Nigeria spokesperson for the Global Tijjaniyya Leader. Tijjani categorically stated that the letter in question is a forgery and did not originate from Sheikh Muhammad Mahi Niasse.

“The purported letter has unfairly called into question the integrity of our leader, who holds Muhammadu Sanusi II in high regard as a disciple in Nigeria, and a person of humble origins with a commendable religious character,” Tijjani asserted.

He issued a stern warning to those responsible for the forged letter, demanding they come forward within 24 hours to explain the origin and intended recipient of the document, failing which legal action would be pursued.

In light of these developments, security agencies have been alerted to investigate and ensure those responsible are held accountable. “We have requested the arrest and due prosecution of the perpetrators,” Tijjani emphasized.

This incident marks the second time such a forgery has targeted the Global Tijjaniyya Leader, with a similar event occurring during the previous administration of Umar Ganduje. The spokesperson stressed that they would not tolerate the continued defamation of their leader’s name and repeated unfounded associations.

“We will not allow the continued destruction of the reputation of our religious leader by linking him to actions and statements he has never made,” Tijjani declared. “Anyone behind this latest forgery will face the full consequences.”

The swift and firm response from the Tijjaniyya leadership underscores their commitment to protecting the integrity and honor of Sheikh Muhammad Mahi Niasse, ensuring that such malicious attempts to tarnish his reputation are thoroughly addressed.
