Ohaneze Ndigbo Condemns South East Governors Over Kanu’s Detention And Security Crisis
Ohaneze Ndigbo Condemns South East Governors Over Kanu’s Detention And Security CrisisThe Secretary General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, has pointed fingers at South East Governors and certain Igbo leaders for the prolonged detention of Nnamdi Kanu and the escalating security challenges in the region.
In a strongly worded press statement issued yesterday, Isiguzoro expressed disappointment in the failure of South East Governors to provide necessary guarantees to explore political avenues for the release of Nnamdi Kanu. He emphasized that this failure has also contributed to the unabated security challenges in the South East.
Isiguzoro highlighted the absence of unity and commitment from South East Governors in leveraging respected Igbo figures to assure the Federal Government of Kanu’s future conduct post-release. He criticized some leaders for allegedly exploiting Kanu’s detention for personal gain and political maneuvering rather than prioritizing his release and addressing regional security issues.
The statement called on South East Governors, Igbo Elders, National Assembly members, and Traditional Rulers to be held accountable for their roles in the prolonged detention of Kanu. It urged stakeholders to prioritize community welfare over personal ambitions and unite in efforts to secure Kanu’s release and resolve security challenges in the region.
Ohaneze Ndigbo emphasized the need for a unified stance and commitment from the Igbo community to expedite Kanu’s release, urging stakeholders to direct scrutiny towards South East Governors rather than shifting blame to the Federal Government or President Tinubu.
In conclusion, the statement underscored Ohaneze Ndigbo’s call for unity and collective action among Igbo leaders to address the detention of Nnamdi Kanu and the security crisis in the South East. It urged for a shift towards communal welfare and away from personal interests, signaling a pivotal moment for stakeholders to prioritize the region’s stability and Kanu’s release.
