Gov Umo Unleashes ₦4.755 Billion Windfall For Pensions And Allowances!Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has announced the release of ₦4.755 billion to cover pensions, gratuities for retirees, and wardrobe allowances for teachers and civil servants, promising significant development for the state in July.

Governor Eno emphasized the collaborative effort between the state’s leadership and its residents to foster growth and prosperity. He urged citizens to remain dedicated to building a flourishing Akwa Ibom.

“Together, we are making significant strides in our journey towards development and excellence. Let’s keep the momentum going and work collaboratively for the betterment of our beloved state,” Umo stated in his new month message.

The governor highlighted that the allocation of ₦4.755 billion fulfills his campaign promise to improve the welfare of civil servants, education, and skill development.

Details of the allocation include:

• ₦2.3 billion for gratuities of state civil servants, retired primary school teachers, and local government retirees.
• ₦1.1 billion for a one-off wardrobe allowance payment for over 20,000 primary, secondary, and technical college teachers.
• ₦1 billion in bonuses for 52,000 public service workers, in line with the governor’s Public Service Week promise.
• ₦79 million for scholarships for Akwa Ibom indigenes at the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology in Zaria, Kaduna State.
• ₦104 million as the first tranche payment for the 2024 primary school teachers’ leave grant.
• ₦172 million for severance gratuity of former local government chairmen and vice chairmen who served between 2018 and 2022.

Governor Umo added that these funds align with ongoing initiatives such as the Arise Compassionate Homes, palliative care for the elderly, free medical outreach, and interest-free loans to traders. “Our commitment remains steadfast in providing for our people and ensuring progress across all sectors,” he affirmed.
