Kogi Miracle: Lokoja Schoolchildren Escape Tragic Truck Accident Unscathed

In a fortunate turn of events, eight schoolchildren survived a severe accident in Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State. Witnesses reported that the children, who attend Kingdom Heritage Nursery and Primary School in Lokoja, were involved in the incident on Thursday while returning home from school. The accident occurred near the busy Lokongoma market when a heavy-duty truck, carrying a container, overturned and fell on two smaller vehicles, trapping the children inside.

Thanks to the prompt response from the Nigeria Police, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and other relevant agencies, the children were rescued from the wreckage. Kogi State Security Adviser Commodore Jerry Omodara (Rtd.) was on-site to oversee the rescue and confirmed the successful rescue of the children to a Daily Post correspondent on Thursday.

In a separate incident on Tuesday evening, a tragic accident occurred in Benin City, Edo State. A 12-year-old girl, Toyosi Ademola, was struck by a truck near Uselu Market on Uselu Lagos Road around 6:00 p.m. Toyosi, a Primary 5 student at Oba Ewuare Primary School, was standing by the pavement after crossing the road from the market when the truck, experiencing mechanical failure, veered off the road and hit the pavement, fatally injuring her. Security personnel arrived swiftly to prevent damage to the vehicle by angry residents and motorists.
