Nigeria Faces Surge In Irregular Migration, Immigration Service Raises Alarm

David Amanahu, a facilitator from the NIS headquarters in Abuja, noted Edo State’s historical connection to irregular migration. However, he shared some positive developments, revealing that, thanks to recent efforts by the Edo State Command, the state has improved its position in the national ranking on irregular migration.

“The good news is that Edo State is no longer ranked number one in irregular migration,” Amanahu said, commending the dedicated team in the state for their hard work in addressing the issue.

Amanahu, speaking on behalf of the Controller-General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, highlighted the NIS’s increased focus on border management and migration challenges.
