World Cup Qualifiers: Siasia Opposes Appointment Of Foreign Coach For Super Eagles

Siasia has also urged his former teammate, Austine Eguavoen, to officially resign as the interim coach of the Super Eagles and focus on his primary role as the NFF’s technical director.

Rejecting the notion of bringing in another foreign coach, Siasia emphasized, “We don’t want any foreign coach here because they are not coming to contribute anything. We have sufficient talent at home, and we shouldn’t be discussing hiring a foreign coach.”

While Eguavoen led the team to qualify for next year’s AFCON in his temporary role, the NFF has yet to make a decision regarding his future ahead of the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Siasia believes his former teammate should choose between coaching the Super Eagles or serving as the technical director of the NFF.

Regarding Eguavoen’s position, Siasia stated, “I think we should wait a bit to see how the young team performs. Eguavoen already has a job as the technical director. He should resign as the manager of the Super Eagles and concentrate on that role. It’s not feasible to hold both positions simultaneously. He needs to decide which role to commit to and step away from the other.
