Rescue operations are underway in Alaska as teams search for a missing small commercial plane carrying 10 people. The two towns, about 146 miles (235 km) apart, are located along Alaska’s western coast. The pilot had informed Anchorage air traffic control of plans to enter a holding pattern while awaiting runway clearance, but contact was lost shortly after.

The US Coast Guard has dispatched a C-130 aircraft to assist the search, while ground crews scour vast areas for any signs of the missing plane. As of Friday, no updates have been released. FlightRadar24 data showed the plane flying over water about 40 minutes after takeoff.

This marks another in a series of recent aviation accidents in the US. On January 30, a mid-air collision between a passenger jet and a US Army helicopter in Washington, D.C., resulted in 67 deaths. Shortly after, a medical plane crashed in Philadelphia, killing seven and injuring 19.

In São Paulo, Brazil, two people were killed when a small aircraft crashed onto a busy avenue, colliding with a bus and bursting into flames. The King Air F90 had just taken off from Campo de Marte Airport, which serves domestic flights.

Firefighter chief Ronaldo Melo stated that the plane slid for several hundred meters before striking the bus and exploding. The pilot and the only passenger died on the spot, while six people on the bus were injured but managed to evacuate before the fire spread.

Local TV captured dramatic footage of thick black smoke billowing from the wreckage. Firefighters swiftly contained the blaze, and investigators are on-site gathering evidence to determine the cause of the crash.
