BREAKING: Abducted Catholic Cleric in Kaduna Regains Freedom, Church Rejoices
Reverend Father Ibrahim Amos, the parish priest of Saint Gerald’s Quasi Catholic Parish in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, who was abducted by armed men in the early hours of Thursday, has regained his freedom.
His release was confirmed on Friday in a statement by Reverend Father Jacob Shanet, Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan. According to the statement, Father Amos was released by his abductors around 10 p.m. on Thursday.
The Diocese expressed heartfelt appreciation to the public and security agencies for their prayers and support during the difficult period.
“Your expressions of love, solidarity, and prayers reflect our collective commitment to upholding the value and sanctity of human life,” said Father Shanet.
He continued, “While we remain grateful to God, we also deeply appreciate everyone who stood by us through prayers and encouragement during this distressing time. May the Blessed Virgin Mary, mother of priests and religious, along with all the angels, intercede on behalf of all those still in captivity, and bring them home safely.”
Earlier reports stated that Father Amos was taken from his parish residence on Thursday morning, sparking concern and fervent prayers from the Catholic community both locally and beyond.
