Why Defeating Bola Tinubu In FCT Will Be Tough – Nyesom Wike Fires Warning

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has expressed confidence that the administration of President Bola Tinubu has restored hope among Nigerians through ongoing infrastructure development. According to Ireporter Online, the minister made the remarks during a post-project inspection of major road corridors spanning Karu, the Apo-Karshi axis, Bearing, and Kubwa, highlighting the scale of transformation taking place in the territory.

Wike asserted that the extensive infrastructure drive across satellite towns in Abuja would significantly strengthen the ruling party’s political standing ahead of the 2027 elections. He maintained that the rapid development of previously inaccessible areas into functional road networks has reshaped public perception and could make it extremely difficult for opposition forces to secure victory in the Federal Capital Territory.

The minister noted that many residents have expressed surprise at the pace and quality of development, describing the projects as unprecedented in their experience. He explained that the government’s approach is deliberately focused on decentralising development by extending critical infrastructure beyond the city centre into rural and suburban communities.

According to him, the improved connectivity is already enhancing daily life, making it easier for residents in areas such as Kuje to commute into the city within a short time, thereby boosting economic activity and reducing migration pressure on the urban core.

Wike further disclosed that several of the ongoing projects are being accelerated for commissioning as part of activities marking the president’s third anniversary in office. He added that the positive response from residents reflects the administration’s impact, stressing that public satisfaction remains a key indicator of governance success.
