UEFA Champions League Quarter-Finals Set: Liverpool Halt Osimhen’s Galatasaray Charge

The 2025/26 UEFA Champions League quarter-final matchups have been confirmed following the conclusion of the round of 16. According to Ireporter Online, the stage is set for a series of high-profile clashes, including defending champions Real Madrid facing Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain taking on Liverpool in a marquee encounter. Atlético Madrid will meet Barcelona, while Sporting CP is set to challenge Arsenal.

The first legs of the quarter-finals are scheduled for April 7-8, with return legs on April 14-15, and the final will be held on May 30 at the Puskás Aréna.

Liverpool secured their quarter-final spot emphatically with a 4-0 victory over Galatasaray at Anfield, overturning a first-leg deficit. Goals from Dominik Szoboszlai, Hugo Ekitike, Ryan Gravenberch, and Mohamed Salah capped a dominant performance. Galatasaray’s star forward, Victor Osimhen, was forced off with a forearm injury after a collision with Ibrahima Konate, leaving his team weakened.

Szoboszlai opened the scoring with a composed strike midway through the first half, while Salah missed a clear chance and had a penalty saved by Ugurcan Cakir. In the second half, Salah assisted Ekitike before Gravenberch added a third, and Salah completed the scoring with a superb strike, marking his 50th Champions League goal.

PSG enter the quarter-finals in formidable form, having dismantled Chelsea 8-2 on aggregate, setting up a blockbuster tie against Liverpool. Bayern Munich also advanced convincingly, with Harry Kane scoring twice as they defeated Atalanta 10-2 on aggregate. Barcelona progressed past Newcastle United, while Atlético Madrid narrowly overcame Tottenham Hotspur.

From the six Premier League representatives, only Liverpool and Arsenal remain, following the earlier eliminations of Chelsea and Manchester City.
