According to Ireporter Online, English striker Ollie Watkins finally brought an end to his goal drought as Aston Villa clinched their first Premier League victory of the season with a 3-1 comeback win over Fulham at Villa Park.

Watkins, who had gone nine matches without scoring – equalling the longest barren spell of his Villa career – struck at a decisive moment to cancel out Raul Jimenez’s early opener, which came in the third minute from a close-range header.

His equaliser lifted the home side, who had laboured through much of the first half. The turnaround was completed shortly after the restart when captain John McGinn fired Villa into the lead, before substitute Emiliano Buendia netted a third just two minutes later. For the Argentine, it was a landmark strike, marking his first goal in a year following an extended battle with injuries.

Villa’s quick double proved overwhelming for Fulham, who have managed only one win in their last 22 league visits to Villa Park. Marco Silva’s men began with promise but saw momentum slip away after Jimenez was forced off through injury.

Ezri Konsa made a vital clearance off the line to deny Sasa Lukic as Fulham pressed for a response, but Unai Emery’s side stayed firmly in control to secure all three points and a long-awaited boost to their campaign.
