According to Ireporter Online, Afrobeat singer and grandson of music legend Fela Kuti, Made Kuti, has explained why he chose not to kneel while proposing to his wife, stating that marriage, in his view, is a mutual agreement rather than a traditional act of submission.

Speaking during an appearance on the Timeless Podcast on the Nix Network YouTube channel, the 30-year-old said he and his partner agreed that their union was based on equality, adding that kneeling would symbolically suggest begging for acceptance into marriage. He emphasized that both parties entered the relationship as equals, stressing that his proposal reflected a shared decision rather than a one-sided request. Made Kuti, who married his partner, Inedoye Onyenso, in 2023, maintained that his perspective on marriage is shaped by mutual respect and partnership.

In a separate development, Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti has alleged that supporters of the Labour Party presidential candidate, popularly known as Obidients, once attempted to harm him during his detention at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Panti, Lagos.

In a live Instagram session, Seun Kuti claimed that the alleged incident occurred while he was in custody, adding that he had previously refrained from speaking about it due to the identity of those he believed were involved. He stated that the individual linked to the alleged plan is widely admired by young Nigerians, which influenced his initial silence. The musician further noted that activist Omoyele Sowore had encouraged him to speak earlier, but he chose to address the matter in his own time.

Seun Kuti, however, clarified that he does not intend to target anyone based on political affiliation, adding that citizens are free to support any political figure of their choice, including Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, or Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He added that he may confront the matter directly with the individual involved at a later time, depending on circumstances.
