President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has mourned the passing of revered Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, describing him as an exceptional religious figure whose impact will continue to shape generations. According to Ireporter Online, the influential leader of the Tijjaniyya Muslim Brotherhood died on Thursday at the age of 101.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised the late Sheikh as a distinguished teacher and spiritual guide whose life was devoted to preaching, moral discipline, and advancing peace within the Muslim community.

Tinubu reflected on the support and wise counsel Sheikh Bauchi offered him during the 2023 presidential campaign, noting that the cleric played a significant role in promoting unity and strengthening faith among Nigerians. He stressed that the nation has lost a moral compass whose teachings centred on compassion, devotion to God and peaceful coexistence.

The President urged Nigerians, especially the Sheikh’s followers, to honour his legacy by embracing the values he embodied and continuing to live by his spiritual principles. He extended heartfelt condolences to the cleric’s family, followers across the country, and Muslims around the world, emphasizing that Sheikh Bauchi’s voice of moderation and guidance will remain unforgettable.

“Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi was a teacher, a father, and a voice of moderation and reason. As a preacher and an eminent interpreter of the Holy Quran, he consistently championed peace and piety. His death has created a great void,” Tinubu stated.
